IB Diploma - Years 12 & 13

Dulwich College (Singapore) is proud to be introducing the IB Diploma programme for the beginning of the August 2018 academic year. The programme will build upon the challenging and enriching learning environment that we have created as part of our three year IGCSE courses. It will present a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn in a College that has strong foundations and is part of an experienced family of schools.

The IB Diploma programme is studied over two years. Students will be counselled prior to entry into the IB Diploma so that subject choices are the most appropriate for them in terms of breadth and balance and most importantly give them a strong pathway to their future ambitions. We will ensure that students achieve their full potential through a program of support, feedback and target setting that will enable them to take independent control of their own learning and focus on what is important to improve as they continue on their journey to be successful citizens in a global community. Our Global Skills programme in the preceding years to the Diploma will lay the bedrock for the Approaches to Learning skills that they will need to succeed in their IB Diploma.

The IB Diploma experience will go much further than focus on high grades. The students will have many outstanding opportunities for involvement in activities outside of the curriculum including the annual Music, Art, Drama and Dance festival (MADD), the Sports Olympiad and the annual Dulwich Festival of Music.

Students in their IGCSE years will already be used to recording, monitoring and reflecting on their extra-curricular activities through their personal enrichment portfolio. There will be the opportunity to take responsibility for, initiate and lead their own Creativity Activity and Service projects both locally and globally. As part of the CAS programme, students will be encouraged to still be involved in the NYAA (also known as The Duke of Edinburgh Award).

Dulwich College (Singapore) prides itself in being an international School with a British Independent school ethos. The College aims to instill a strong sense of community and well being for all students. Every student will be part of a House based tutor group; the IB Diploma students will be encouraged to take up leadership roles and have an influence in some of the every day features of the College. The House identity supports the development of working together and results in healthy competition across the College in a variety of different areas.

Many Dulwich College International IB Diploma students go on to study at the most prestigious Universities around the world. Students in Singapore will be supported to focus on academic excellence and the sixth form pastoral team and University Counsellor will work hard to ensure students gain entrance to the Universities and Colleges of their choice.
